Séverine Derbré is a scientist in the field of natural products (NPs) and a trained pharmacist. After graduating from The School of Pharmacy in Angers in 2002, she obtained a PhD thesis in chemistry of NPs under the supervision of Pr. Erwan Poupon and Pr. Reynald Hocquemiller in 2006 at the Paris Saclay University. Subsequently she worked as a post-doctoral fellow at the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (Commissariat à l'énergie atomique et aux énergies alternatives, CEA Saclay, France) together with Yves Ambroise in the laboratory directed by Charles Mioskowski and Bernard Rousseau.
In 2007, she was recruited as an associate professor of pharmacognosy by the University of Angers, School of Pharmacy, and joined the SONAS laboratory, directed by Pr. Pascal Richomme and Pr. David Guilet (from 2023).
She is responsible for teaching pharmacognosy and phytotherapy at the Faculty of Pharmacy in Angers (Faculty of Health, University of Angers).
She is also responsible for the Diplôme Interuniversitaire (DIU) in phytotherapy, herbal medicine and aromatherapy based on rational data.
